LRJ #2 for Macbeth Act 2.

Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth are different attributes,  Macbeth is the king he's strong but underneath he acts like a child. There are positive and negative attributes that he has, the positive is that when he sets his mind to it he will do it, and he has the prophecy in which he can believe in. He also has the ability to be a ruler and he is a great ruler. But he has more negative attributes than his good. When he murdered Duncan he didn't have a bad feeling, but until he came out with the daggers he started freaking out and trying to repent on his actions "Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather multitudinous seas incarnadine, Making the green one red." (2.2.64-67), Macbeth has a great repent that he said that the blood that he has will never wash off not even in the great waters of Neptune, so he will have that on his conscious. Another bad attribute is that when he blacks out and just starts rambling he could reveal what he has done, with out knowing it "Who could refrain that had a heart to love and in that heart courage make's love known?" (2.3.118-119) Macbeth could have easily  told everyone that he killed Duncan, so instead Lady Macbeth fainted to not let Macbeth continue with his preaching.

Lady Macbeth also has positive and negative attributes, she is a beautiful person but then again she is a very determined lady who once she says something that is what she is going to do. The positives are that she can act very well in the time of need, like when she fainted to get the attention away from Macbeth. She also is a great wife to Macbeth, she wanted to comfort him when he was going crazy. The negatives. She could be more of a man than her husband, so the prophecy might change that she would be the queen, because she actually has the courage to go do what needs to be done, “My hands are of your color but I shame To wear a heart so white.” (2.2.68-69) she meant that she just committed the same crime that Macbeth did but she didn't hold herself against anything.

One image pattern that is used is the blood that is figured trough out the whole act, in which the killing of Duncan help explain, it is important because it shows how much in detail Shakespeare can get with his writing. “Go get some water And wash this fitly witness from you hand” (2.2.50-51) in this quote Lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth to wash the blood off his hands because it is a sigh that he murdered someone so it will expose him.

LRJ #1 on Act 1 of Macbeth.

Macbeth in act one is more like a calm person. But him and Banquo are like two partners who fight with on side of each other having there friends back in battle, “As cannons overcharged with double cracks, So they doubly redouble  stroke upon the foe” (1.2.36-38), it says that they were working together like cannons with two explosion shoot off, so they deliver twice the damage, so they are a team that the Captain shows to be fearful. Macbeth is more into the great thought that he is the one who will be king so he isn't skeptical about the witch encounter but Banquo is, ”Or have we eaten on the insane root that takes the reason prisoner?” (1.3.84-85). Banquo questions more than macbeth and ask if evil ca actually speak the truth. Lade Macbeth shows that she is a strong lady, she is so strong that she can be a man, “Come to m woman's breast and take my milk for gall.” (1.5.47-48) she means that let the spirits take her breast milk and take her woman body parts away from her to show that she is not weak female.

There are certain themes that are used in Act one of Macbeth. One is that Macbeth respects the Witches prophecy, even though he questioned what he will have to do in order to fulfill

the prophecy, but even though he didn't think about it much until the decision to kill Duncan was made, Duncan trusteed Macbeth very much but even thought Trust is also a theme, it’s not a theme that is expressed in the most positive way, because Macbeth betrays the king and turns up to kill him. Macbeth is the right full person who should rule but only in the prophecy of the witches but either way he goes along with it.

“Till he unseamed him from nave to th’ chops, And fixed his head upon our battlements.” (1.2.21-22) this quote is striking because it shows the striking blow that Macbeth gave to his enemy, cutting him from the lower body parts all the way to his jaw, and then throwing his head into the battle field. It shows that Macbeth has no fear when he comes to fighting hand on hand combats.

LRJ #1 Quarter 3

The theme of the play “Everyman” is that when you die, don not go looking for friends to go with you. When death comes upon, only you, your sins, your knowledge, and all your good deeds will go on with you. “And as now, God speed there in thy journey, for from thee I will depart as fast as I may.” (Anonymous 6) no one wants to pass away life for or someone else, but fellowship wished everyman good luck on the journey God sent him on, He says he will flee as far away as he can in order to not get into his problems and die. “Abide behind? Yea that I will and I may! Therefore farewell until an other day” (Anonymous 7) behind you is what Kindred told Everyman, that he was behind him through many things but he will depart away and they should meet again later in life or when faith brings them back together. Everyman has to go trough death with only his personal stuff, no friends or family that is it, but he needs to confess to get the privilege to take all that with him, he needs to confess to God, and regret hid sins and have penances, “I will give there called penances, wise voider of adversity.

Some of the values that are in this section of Beowulf is bravery “‘I risked my life often when I was young. Now I’m old, but as king of the people I shall preset this fight for the glory of winning, if the evil one will only abandon his earth fort and face me in open.”’ (2512 Henney) this shows that Beowulf is not scared and is brave enough to fight the dragon, and he is prepared for everything, all he wants is for the beast to leave its fort, for him to fight.  One other value is the pride, that Beowulf had before he died “‘No king of any neighboring clan would dare face me with troops, none had the power to intimidate me.”’ (2733 Henney). He speaks of being so great that no one could ever defeat him, he was so excellent that, as he quotes, no one would ever dare face him with soldiers. Beowulf thought great of him self, and he was.

This story is different to the other sections of Beowulf, because in this section it brings back the old times, or better said the past “‘He picked us out from the army deliberately, honored us and  judged us to fit for this action”’ (2638 Henny). It talks about how the story line, and how he began in the beginning, and now his second in command, Wiglaf spoke his story.

“‘What occurs on the wall between the two of us could turn out as fate”’(2531 Henney). This quote explains that Beowulf knew that what ever happened between him and the beast had already been already been determined because it was fate. Beowulf died with honer he didn't back down from a fight that he knew he could lose. But he didn't care he knew he had done everything he could and more in his life because he was a great Beowulf!

One o f the Values in Beowulf is trust in Heroes, they trusted Beowulf and they knew he was a great Hero, he bragged about everything, and he was reliable. He claimed to be the one who would defeat Grendle, and he would also defeat his Mother, “‘Now help depends on you and only”’ (Henney 1376). Another values is friendship between the king and his loyal fallen comrade, “‘Aesscher was everything the world admires in a wise man and a friend.”’ hrothgar says this to beowulf and tells him that Aesscher was a good friend and he was everything the world was looking for, as in he was everything that someone could want in a person. 2) Sea Dragon in the water, this is one thing that isn't real and it is probably put into the story that the waters of the kingdom are very dangerous. Demons and Ghost, this is probably put in the story to show that Grendle is evolved from demonds and ghost, and that he is very ugly, and evil.

LRJ #1

One Value in Beowulf is friendship, "This man is their son, here to follow up on a old friendship" (Heanny 372) the king said that to Beowulf, because Beowulf is the son of a old friend of the king. So the king believed that Beowulf was there to continue the friendship of his father, and to just be someone the king could rely one. Another very important value is how much Beowulf believes in God and how much trust he has in him, he quotes “‘I shall seize my enemy my hand grip and fight, enemy against enemy, and let God decide who shall be taken by death.”’ beowulf puts his trust in GOd and lets everyone know that who ever wins, God has already made the decision. “Brecca fulfilled all his boast. Because of this,” he talking about  Brecca fulfilling the task that was giving to I’m, and then it gives reasons why. “Bladed Weapons” it talks about swords, and that they have blades.

Antigone Paper

Antigone, is not a traitor but a loyal sister, she should not pay any sentence for any crime. She only did what he heart ad told he, what she knew was right. She believes in family and trust in them, she wanted a proper burial for her beloved brother. Anyone else who knows how to value family would have done the same. Not only was Creon wrong of his actions, but he should have not changed the laws of the Gods, and disturbed the peace.

Antigone is a loyal sister, she respected her brother, not only her brother but her sister also, she didn’t let her sister share the blame  for a crime she had nothing to do with. She loved her brother and cared for him, no matter that he was a traitor, that didn't matter to her. Antigone put family first even though she knew that there would be consequences, but she wasn't afraid of Creon.

Someone who knows the value of family and who cares for a family member would have done something to intervene with the bad ways of Creon. A family member never lets another down, and Antigone did not let her brother down. She buried Polyneices. And she did not care.

Creon changed the laws of the Gods, and Antigone did not expect that, she believed that no man h ad to change the laws of the GOds, only Gods themselves could change them.
